Min Tala من تلا

EECDS is glad to be the host and partner of Min tala Project in Egypt.

Min Tala is the first pan-Arab dance company (www.Mintala.org)

min tala ( منﻥ تلا in Arabic) is taken from levantine colloquial Arabic and is translated to mean “from - towards”.

The vision:
Is to champion the idea of collective collaboration through dance/theatre.

Min tala is created from a common work ethos that question boundaries away from the conflicted reality of living and making work in the MENA region. min tala aims to challenge artistic and personal isolation and become a safe place for artistic practice, min tala is co-directed by Jorge Crecis (UK) and Samar Hadad (Palestine). The two directors will be working collaboratively to create a new outdoor performance that will be toured regionally and internationally in 2016-17. The creation of the work will take place over 4 phases in 3 different Arab countries and the UK, giving the chance for these young Arab dancers to work in different regional countries: reinforcing the idea of crossing borders and developing their personal and artistic relationships while connecting with local cultural leaders in the places min tala will work.

During each phase of the project the team will be accompanied by filmmakers documenting the process. The documentary will highlight the current issues around migration and show how the Arab region is also a blossoming place capable of producing great art and culture. New dance piece
The creation of a new work, conceived to be performed outdoor, will take place over 3 phases in 3 Arab countries, giving the chance for these young Arab dancers to work in different regional countries: reinforcing the idea of crossing borders and developing their personal and artistic relationships while connecting with local dance leaders in the places min tala will work. min tala aims to set the foundations a communal living history, building trust and a device to stay connected.

Challenges are major catalysts to creativity, and min tala is about voicing out this collaborative against the challenge of artistic and personal isolation. The performance will focus on how the connection between people trumps the fragmentation of geographical borders. A safe place for artistic practice will be created with a common work ethos that question boundaries away from the conflicted reality of living and making work in this region of the world.
